Immaculate Misconception

Born without my consent
into this time and place

I know who I am
yet I cannot see
the firmament for the stars

All the cathedrals, monoliths, and palaces
have obstructed the view

The growth of my cell, and the cell that I belong to
(like an organelle)
was stifled in a bad version of wilderness

There is good outside of people
and it is all we can do to savor it
(to be its guardian)

What came first or last
should not be the highest concern

Our fervor about injustice
should come in like lightning

The truth is a burden
only the honeybees and palm trees
must bear

Fruit is forced by addicted souls
engulfed in the flame
of a legendary lie
